The AEDRTC is charged with implementing The Australian Eating Disorders Research & Translation Strategy 2021-2031 which was developed over two years of consultation by the InsideOut Institute as part of the National Projects workstream.
The Strategy represents the collective thinking of hundreds of individuals and key stakeholders nationally and was endorsed by all national and state eating disorder organisations.
The AEDRTC’s underpinning principles of co-design, delivering research with impact, providing research supports, collaboration and diversity, are drawn from the Strategy, and the strategic priorities and recommendations outlined in the Strategy have informed our workplan.
It is our intention that the Strategy is a document that is used and is useful, that we respond to the gaps it identifies, bring to life the actions articulated through our consultations, and that it is a live document in so much as we use it as a springboard for the generation of new ideas, activities and strategic priorities as required.
To that end, you are invited to have your say on how we turn the Strategy into reality!
The link below takes you to an interactive ideas generation board, where you will see the five existing Strategic Priorities and a column where you can add any other strategic priorities that we should be considering. Add in any actions, streps or resources that you believe will help us to achieve the strategic priorities and bring the Strategy to life.

Recent developments in personalised treatment that take a flexible, holistic approach which considers a person’s biology, mental health and life circumstances, have the potential to revolutionise care for people with eating disorders and acknowledge the complex nature of these debilitating illnesses.
