Madeline Baker

Madeline (she/her) is an early career optometrist, lived experience researcher and PhD candidate with the Centre for Youth Mental Health (University of Melbourne). After graduating with a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Optometry, Madeline worked in the public health sector as a clinical optometrist. With a passion for research, Madeline ​began her PhD studies in 2025, exploring the intersection of visual function and eating disorders. Madeline also works as a Teaching Fellow in Optometry at Deakin University and as a Policy Officer with Optometry Australia. Drawing on her own lived experience with an eating disorder, Madeline is delighted to be a part of the AEDRTC’s Lived Experience Reference Group and is eager to contribute to the development of innovative research in eating disorders. Madeline is also a Lived Experience Community Member for Governance with Barwon Health's Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Services. In her spare time, Madeline enjoys exploring the great outdoors, spending time with her family and crocheting!
