A clinical trial of individualised treatment for Anorexia Nervosa.

Bulimia Nervosa / Binge Eating Disorder Treatment Trial

A clinical trial of adapted, personalised treatment for individuals with Binge Eating Disorder or Bulimia Nervosa.

How the studies work:

Everyone starts here! First step, join the Holistic Understanding Study.

Holistic Understanding Study

By gathering lots of data about your unique experience with an eating disorder, we will deepen our understanding of these devastating illnesses.

What's Involved

This study is exploring what shapes eating disorders, things like your thoughts, biology, and life experiences, to help improve how they're understood and treated. Over the course of a year, you'll be asked to complete a number of surveys, chat with a researcher, and possibly take part in things like brain scans or give blood or stool samples. It's about building a clearer picture of each person's experience so future care can be more tailored and effective.

Anyone 14 years or older with an eating disorder, or who thinks they may have an eating disorder, is invited to complete the consent form & survey below.

After joining the Holistic Understanding study, you may also want to join the For Me Trial or TailorED Trial. A researcher will discuss this with you, after you have completed the survey.

What's Involved

Bulimia Nervosa / Binge Eating Disorder Treatment Trial

Free treatment that responds to you.

Those eligible for this trial will also be required to enter the Holistic Understanding Study.

What's Involved

This study is looking at how to best support people with bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder who don’t respond quickly to standard online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). After a few weeks of treatment, participants will be matched to different care options, such as extended therapy, personalised psychotherapy, or brain stimulation (TMS), based on how they’re doing. The aim of this trial is to find out which approach is the most effective, and as a result, find out how to make treatment more responsive to individual needs.
